Registrar O&G - Dunedin Hospital at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Southern, Otago

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

About the role:

  • You will be part of the O&G team of 12 consultants with a range of skills including generalists, urogynaecologists and gynae oncologists who are dedicated to registrar training and support
  • The Obstetrics unit is busy, with increasing numbers of high-acuity cases. Every effort is made to provide experience in major and minor gynaecological surgery
  • You will be provided with the necessary training, along with weekly protected teaching time and a high level of supportive Consultant supervision
  • We are a RANZCOG training site for ITP trainees and have very strong links with RANZCOG and the University of Otago Medical School, where many of our Registrars complete postgraduate diplomas in O&G
  • Our advanced trainees are given excellent exposure to specialised skills, including colposcopy, office gynaecology procedures, rural clinics and the opportunity to attend fertility clinics off site
  • The successful applicant will be able to direct their own training towards the path of their choosing with expert support from our team

About you

Our ideal candidate will:

  • have registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at MCNZ
  • be working towards becoming a RANZCOG trainee registrar, or a non-trainee registrar with an interest in working in women's health
  • have a minimum of two years' post qualification experience and some experience working in a women's health role.

It is requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
