Storeperson at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Southern, Otago

About the role

The store person will receive and accurately pick and pack inventory items for order fulfillment.

You will conduct cycle counts and participate in stock takes, rotate inventory to prevent obsolescence and securely pack items for dispatch.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods to store
  • Ensuring proper storage, handling techniques and methods are followed
  • Pick, pack and prepare orders for distribution to hospitals and healthcare facilities
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, stock movements and expiration dates
  • Replenishment of goods into store following all guidelines
  • Perform regular inventory cycle counts and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks, safely and efficiently
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to fulfil urgent or special requests for medical supplies and consumables
  • Assist in the disposal of expired and or damaged inventory in accordance with organisational policies and guidelines

About you

We are looking for someone who is strong, fit and has previous experience working in a warehouse or storeroom.

Our ideal candidates will:

  • have forklift experience and certificates, for unloading trucks and managing stock in the racking
  • demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • establish and maintain positive working relationships
  • demonstrate a strong drive to deliver and take personal responsibility
  • demonstrate the highest standards of personal, professional and institutional behaviour through commitment, loyalty and integrity
  • have strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling documentation
  • have strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external customers
  • have knowledge and/or an understanding of medical products, temperature controlled and or special storage requirements
  • have commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards
  • have previous experience with inventory management or warehouse management systems
  • encourage and promote ideas for continual improvement within the role
  • have the ability to productively work in a cooperative team environment and to show the initiative to work unsupervised
  • demonstrate a proactive approach to acquiring in-depth knowledge of health-related products and supplies, including medical instruments, pharmaceuticals, and protective equipment
  • understand and adhere to protocols for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and dangerous goods, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations
  • utilise Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and other safety documentation to inform safe practices and emergency response procedures
  • be motivated to challenge existing practices constructively and collaborate with others to implement innovative solutions that enhance service delivery.
