At Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern, it's truly a team effort. We are looking for someone who has experience and a passion for patient safety to join our team. The role is a full-time, permanent position, working across the district, so this role can be based in Otago or Southland.
About the opportunity
We are looking for a Pharmacist, Registered Nurse (with prescribing) or Doctor to join our Patient Safety team.
A fantastic role is now available where you can apply your clinical knowledge and build on your experience in medicines safety activities, whilst working within a large tertiary level hospital across the Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Southern district. You will be involved with a variety of work undertaken by the patient safety and pharmacy teams. An area of key focus will be supporting medication safety across the organisation.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- working with all disciplines, supporting patient safety activity, including medicines safety initiatives and programmes
- developing a proactive approach to medication safety and leading and supporting the development and implementation of medicines safety programmes at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern
- working alongside teams responsible for improvement/upgrade of existing processes providing the patient safety perspective
- facilitating implementation of local, regional or national medication safety initiatives
- ensuring appropriate Operating Procedures (SOPs) and clinical guidelines in relation to high-risk medicines are in place for Health New Zealand - Te Whatu - Southern
- the facilitation of some adverse event reviews, providing guidance to the team undertaking the review, and ensuring high quality reviews with appropriate recommendations and learning outcomes
- participation in the audit processes as required.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- a current health annual practicing certificate
- a post-graduate qualification relevant to roles you have held previously
- experience in medication safety programmes
- experience in data collection, turning information into insights
- the ability to learn and adapt quickly, and can demonstrate the ability to learn/grow/innovate/solution focused.
You will be decisive, organised, a forward thinker, and pragmatic.
