Psychiatry Registrar (Immediate Commencement) at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Southern, Otago

About the role

The programme is led by locally trained psychiatrists who understand the challenges of vocational training. Significant resources are dedicated to supporting both educational requirements and individual trainee needs. You will be supported by a director of training in every rotation, alongside your consultant psychiatrist supervisor.

This is a training registrar role where you will work alongside experienced consultants, registrars, house officers, and nursing and allied health professionals across a variety of services.

  • Early Intervention Service
  • Specialist Addiction Service
  • Forensic Psychiatry
  • Consultation Liaison
  • Mental Health for Older People
  • Intellectual Disability
  • General Adult Community Services
  • General Adult Wards
  • Child and Family Services
  • Ashburn Clinic

Please note that while there is no designated rural run, several of the above services provide rural experience.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligibility for general or provisional general registration. You can check your eligibility at the MCNZ website
  • a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience and a strong interest in psychiatry
  • a current full New Zealand driver's licence.

It is a requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC.
