We are seeking a highly motivated health professional to join our service as a MOSAIQ Specialist on a permanent, part-time basis.
About the role
Responsibilities include:
- effectively managing the MOSAIQ system to ensure it is kept up to date, functional, and safe
- ensuring appropriate and immediate clinical support can be provided to all end users
- configuring clinical and non-clinical aspects of the MOSAIQ system in collaboration with staff
- ensuring existing and new software developments are incorporated
- providing ongoing training and support to staff using MOSAIQ.
Medical Oncology and Haematology commenced prescribing chemotherapy electronically using MOSAIQ in January 2013. Implementation has been successfully completed in Dunedin, Invercargill, Balclutha, Oamaru, and Dunstan. As Southern was the first DHB in New Zealand to implement MOSAIQ, we have also provided expert advice and workshops for other DHBs embarking on the implementation of MOSAIQ.
Dedicated resource is required to provide immediate clinical support and to configure clinical aspects of the system to ensure and sustain a safe and effective system.
What is MOSAIQ?
MOSAIQ is a medical oncology, radiation oncology, and haematology software designed to prescribe cytotoxic chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer patients.
Key features of MOSAIQ:
- Cytotoxic treatments are extremely dangerous and life threatening if given in the wrong dose or to the wrong patient
- A comprehensive patient information management system (PMS)
- Promotes patient safety through better prescribing, in-built system alerts, and clinical parameters
- Improves safety and consistency in treatments through standardised prescriptions and administration processes
- Enables clinicians to review, prescribe, dispense, treat, and document patient information in a single database solution
- Improves efficiency by helping clinicians to plan, order, and monitor treatment
- Integrates with external diagnostic and laboratory systems
- Integrated pharmacy dispensing and scheduling for efficient patient appointments
- Uses clinical merge fields to create letters, reports, and documents
- Promotes safety by connecting departments, multiple sites, and networks
- Is a customisable, user-friendly system
- Has significant reporting functionality, enabling comprehensive auditing capabilities
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need to have:
- up-to-date knowledge and a keen interest in the oncology and haematology clinical area
- the demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
- excellent time management, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- the ability to be adaptable, flexible, and solution-focused
- the ability to identify best practice focused on service delivery
- skills for the critical appraisal of research, literature searches, and reviews
- relevant clinical experience
- experience in project work
- advanced computer skills, including use of word processing and PowerPoint.
