About the team

Ward 6C is a 12-bed acute assessment and treatment unit for people aged over 65 years with an array of mental health (along with some physical health) needs, located in Dunedin Hospital.

About you - About the role

We are seeking a motivated and personable individual to work alongside our Occupational Therapy clinicians in supporting our patient's therapy and discharge planning from the inpatient wards.

Our Allied Health Assistants are key team members who assist our nursing and allied health staff to ensure an effective and efficient service. You will be someone who is warm, empathetic, responsive and attuned to the emotions, needs and motivations of older people. It is preferred you have Mental Health experience or a strong willingness to work in this field.

To be successful in this role you will have a passion for supporting older people with varying mental health needs, be confident in providing support and assisting patients; display initiative; be patient focussed at all times, and be able to adapt to a changing environment. Computer literacy is essential criteria for this role and a full driver's licence is desirable
