We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Physicist to join our friendly team in Dunedin Hospital on a full-time, permanent basis.

Radiation Oncology Physics team at Dunedin Hospital

The Southern Blood and Cancer Service (SBCS) provides a Radiation Oncology Service for the entire Southern region. Medical Physicists play a vital role in the clinical application of radiation to treat cancer. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure that treatments are safe and effective. We are seeking an additional experienced Medical Physicist to join the current team of eight Medical Physicists and two Technicians.

The service has three Linear Accelerators including two Elekta HD Versas, and a Varian TrueBeam, a Monaco treatment planning system and Mosaiq oncology patient management system, and Siemens CT scanner. SBCS delivers Body Stereotactic treatment for lung and spine in addition to providing the national cranial stereotactic service. The Physicist will be expected to engage in all areas of medical physics including clinical consultancy, treatment delivery and verification, quality assurance and latest technology evaluation.

Position requirements

The candidates must have a proven ability to lead the development of clinical techniques and innovations. Applicants must also possess ACPSEM certification/accreditation in radiation oncology medical physics, or an international equivalent, and have a post-graduate degree in Medical Physics or Physics. Candidates should have experience with Elekta and Varian LINACs including clinical experience with Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR); and LINAC quality assurance procedures. It is desirable to have Elekta Monaco treatment planning experience.
