Applications are invited from senior registered nurses with significant nursing experience to lead our team as a Charge Duty Manager. Your proven success in nursing leadership will be complemented by your knowledge of, and experience in clinical quality, safety and best practice.
About the role
The Charge Duty Manager position is a highly autonomous role leading a dynamic team of Duty Managers, Clinical Team Coordinators and the Resource Unit. We are looking for an outstanding communicator who can bring an abundance of energy and ideas to redesign and motivate this exceptional team.
This unique role is an integral position within the Integrated Operations Centre responsible for clinical leadership and coordination, activity and production planning, human resource management, quality and risk management, certification and accreditation, standard operating procedure development and other service delivery improvements within the Dunedin Facilities.
By reporting to the Patient Flow/Operations Manager, Dunedin Hospital within the Medicine Women and Children's Directorate, the Charge Duty Manager will essentially lead and manage the assigned teams to provide clinical leadership. You will be supported by a Duty Manager who is responsible for the day to day coordination of the hospital including patient flow, whilst ensuring efficient, effective and safe services, within the available resources.
Our new Charge Duty Manager must bring a clear focussed vision; strive for contemporary practice, have the ability to inspire and empower staff, act as a positive role model and be an advocate when needed. You will be the first point of contact for emergencies within the district such as unexpected snow days or outages affecting our clinical systems. You will also be required to put in a process regarding patient transport coordination across the district, this really is the role where no two days will be the same!
You will be required to work Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8am - 4.30pm. From time to time you will be required to cover a Duty Manager shift in the event of unplanned leave. This unique and rare position will be supported from an advisory perspective or professional accountability by the Patient Flow/Operations Manager and the Director of Nursing (Medicine).
