Mō te tūranga - About the role
We have an opportunity for an experienced Critical Care Nurse to step into a senior nursing leadership position on a fixed-term basis while the incumbent is on secondment. The Charge Nurse Manager (second in charge) position works collaboratively alongside our Charge Nurse Manager as part of a dual leadership model that has been working successfully within the Te Puna Wai Ora unit for several years.
Taking on this role presents an opportunity for you to oversee the day-to-day operations of the unit in collaboration with the Charge Nurse Manager, providing much needed consistency and support to our team.
Reporting to the Charge Nurse Manager and supported by the Associate Charge Nurses, you will be a key part of the leadership group that serves to support, empower and develop our nursing team towards the provision of top quality care for our community. Your input will ensure not only that the Charge Nurse Manager is able to fulfil the strategic aspects of their role, but that the wider team have consistent access to support and leadership, and our patients and their families are treated with the utmost care. This position is full-time Monday to Friday, and is paid at Grade 6 on the NZNO Senior Nursing scale. It is expected that the successful applicant will step up and provide cover for the Charge Nurse Manager for periods of leave.

This is a demanding and challenging role where the successful applicant will demonstrate sound professional judgement, strong leadership skills and a clear commitment to high quality care and the development of the Service. Key to your success in this position will be your ability to lead effective teams. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate relevant experience and knowledge of patient safety, budgeting and staff management, the ability to think outside the square and to communicate and influence across a range of providers.
You'll be a Senior Registered Nurse with significant critical care experience, a current NZ APC and relevant post graduate qualifications in critical care, and your proven success in nursing leadership will be complemented by your knowledge of, and experience in, clinical quality, safety and best practice.

Utu whānui - Salary range
This role belongs to the DHB/NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between Grade 6 Step 1 ($106,056 p.a. pro-rata) and Step 3 ($115,946 p.a. pro-rata) of the Senior Nurses Salary Scale.
