Registered Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, Otago

Mō te tūranga - About the role

It takes a very special person to care for sick babies and their families/whanau when they arrive into our Neonatal Unit. If you believe you can contribute to improving the health and welfare of the babies in our care, this may be the role for you. Our NICU team cares for over 350 babies and families/whanau each year from across the Southern District.

It is a requirement for this team to have previous experience in one or more of these areas: neonatal setting; prior involvement with child and family health; recent relevant experience in an acute setting. All nursing roles within the unit are required to work eight-hour shifts 24/7, including night shifts.

We're looking for an experienced nurse who is organised, friendly and calm, able to work independently and at the same time genuinely interested in the best outcome for both patient and team.

To be considered, you will need to have the following:

  • Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
  • Previous experience in a neonatal setting; prior involvement with child and family health and/or recent and relevant experience within an acute environment
