Here in the General Adult Intensive and Acute Care Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Wakari Hospital, Dunedin, we're looking for Registered Nurses to join our team. You'll join an expert multi-disciplinary clinical team who provide input to consumers who require comprehensive assessment and/or treatment. The majority of consumers present with serious complex mental health issues.
While prior acute mental health nursing experience is preferable, those who have a willingness to develop this experience would also be considered.

We would love to hear from Registered Nurses who are dynamic and innovative and wish to join a service that is committed to high standards of practice that supports on-going professional development. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to become part of a group of staff that work as a team, in the adult inpatient mental health service. The ward has a number of very experienced clinicians available to provide support to registered nurses.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills on a shift by shift basis. You will be working alongside patients in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting. The emphasis is on the delivery of safe client focused care in an ever changing dynamic setting.
Please note that we are only able to consider your application if you:
- are currently or able to gain registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and have a current APC, with a scope of practice that allows you to work in Mental Health
- have current eligibility (citizenship, residency or work visa) to live and work in New Zealand.
