Registered Nurse - Acute Mental Health at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, Otago

Ward 9C is a busy open 16 bed inpatient facility comprising of two acute youth beds and fourteen acute adult beds with dedicated staff providing 24 hour care. The service caters to clients who have been assessed as requiring a period of increased assessment, investigations and/or interventions that cannot be safely provided for in the community. Admissions come via Community Mental Health teams or the Emergency Psychiatric Service, and cover of all the major psychiatric diagnoses.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

Are you a Registered Nurse with recent mental health nursing experience looking for a new opportunity? We have a position available working rostered shifts. You will provide care for patients with the full range of general adult mental health disorders, including youth, mothers and babies, and eating disorders. The role is busy and diverse and will require someone who has a good general mental health background with experience in the acute mental health sector.

  • Be New Zealand Registered Nurses, with a current APC and a scope of practice that enables you to work in Mental Health
  • Have a full driver's licence
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
