Mō te tūranga - About the role
We're offering an exciting opportunity for an allied health assistant with experience in musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, and rehabilitation clinical practice, or those with a keen interest in developing skills in these areas, to join our Orthopaedics team at Health NZ/Te Whatu Ora Southern.
This position sits with the Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal clinical pathway. You will be responsible for providing patient- and whanau-centred care to patients referred to the Southern Community Orthopaedic Team . This community facing pathway, provides people with strategies to independently manage their condition and aims to prevent or delay surgery. You will work with a physiotherapist to facilitate and deliver individual and group exercise and education programmes, and to organise and facilitate patient scheduling through the orthopaedic service pathways.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of working with patients to achieve functional and vocational goals and optimizing patient outcomes under the supervision of a physiotherapist
Flexibility is essential as this role as it may require participation in evening work from time to time..
A current driver's license is essential to the role, which may be undertaken at a range of community facilities and may require travel between sites within Dunedin.

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and enthusiastic team-player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You'll be self-driven to enhance service quality in collaboration with others, alongside a dedicated supportive Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team.
The ideal candidate will bring relevant experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Additional experience with group and individual exercise, settings including the use of gym equipment, would be an advantage.
We value clinicians who can work independently while actively engaging with our supportive team, participating in regular peer reviews and professional development activities.
You will need to be adaptable and flexible allowing you to work effectively with your clients, primary referrers and the wider orthopaedic team and within a changing health environment.
