Health Care Assistant – Maternity

  • Permanent, part-time (0.6FTE) position available
  • Salary Band – $61,603 - $72,117 p.a. prorata + Kiwisaver

About the role

We have an exciting permanent part time (24 hours per week) opportunity become available at our Southland Maternity Hospital for a Health Care Assistant.

We pride ourselves on having a strong focus on customer service, and its success is reliant on effective communication and teamwork. In this important role you will help with a range of direct and non-direct patient care tasks under the direction from the midwives and nurses on the ward, maintaining the department environment to ensure efficient and effective functioning.

What you will be doing:

  • General department housekeeping
  • Cleaning of delivery rooms, Antenatal/Postnatal rooms and clinic rooms
  • Stock reconciliation
  • Supporting our nurses and other members of the healthcare team
  • Clerical duties as required
  • You will need to be able to commit to rotating rostered shifts.

Hours of work are Monday to Sunday inclusive, based on rostered shifts including nights and weekends - please note these rostered shifts are not fixed.

About Team/Service/Location

The Maternity Unit at Southland Hospital births around 1200 babies every year and work very closely together with the LMC's to ensure that both mother and baby get the level and type of care that they deserve. We are currently looking for experienced midwives who have an exceptional commitment to quality care and who enjoy being involved in a variety of tasks to ensure the very best care is provided at all times.

About you

We are looking for a positive and proactive Health Care Assistant to support our busy and hardworking team within the Southland Maternity Hospital.

What you will bring:

  • Be well organised, with a positive “can do” attitude and be able to communicate clearly and openly
  • Be able to take direction from a variety of staff
  • Have experience working with people in a caring capacity, whether experience is gained from within a professional environment, or from caring for children or whānau.
  • Hold working rights in New Zealand

Previous health care experience is advantageous.
