Clinical Nurse Specialist – Southern Dialysis Service

  • Southland Hospital, Permanent 0.8 FTE role
  • Salary between $118,941 - $130,866 per annum

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Southern Dialysis Service in a newly developed CNS role working as part of a team of three Dialysis CNSs across Dunedin and Invercargill.

You'll provide advanced clinical care for people living with kidney disease across home, community, outpatient and hospital settings, supporting patients and whānau through different stages of their dialysis journey.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Providing advanced assessment, clinical decision-making and specialist dialysis care.
  • Supporting home haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis through clinics, home visits, training and ongoing review.
  • Providing specialist input for complex and acutely unwell dialysis patients.
  • Coordinating care across home, community and hospital settings.
  • Providing specialist advice, education and coaching to patients, whānau and staff.
  • Leading and contributing to quality improvement, evidence-based practice and new models of care.
  • Championing equitable, culturally safe and patient-centred care.

If you're an experienced Registered Nurse with strong clinical skills and relevant renal, dialysis or complex acute-care experience, don't let that stop you from applying.

For the right person, we'll support development toward CNS-level practice through postgraduate study, mentoring and advanced clinical development. For someone with the aptitude and ambition, there may also be an opportunity to work with the service toward a future Nurse Practitioner pathway in renal and dialysis care.
