Clinical Nurse Specialist - MHAID ED at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Southern, Southland

  • Permanent, part-time (0.3 FTE) role
  • Salary between $116,040 and $127,674 per annum pro-rata

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist role will work across both urban and rural Emergency Departments within Southern; acting in the roles of educator, consultant, researcher, leader/change agent in the pursuit of excellence and improved health outcomes for people experiencing mental distress.

Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Building the capability and confidence of staff working in the Emergency Department (ED) and other locations people present in crises
  • Support the professional development of clinical, non-clinical and administration staff who interact with individuals (and their whanau or support people) presenting with mental health needs or in distress
  • Assist in building the capability of the front-line workforce to respond confidently and professionally to mental health crises events
  • Act as a wellbeing resource for the ED teams to support front-line staff
  • Utilise excellent interpersonal skills and model professionalism, in the context of people experiencing mental distress and its impact

About you

Our ideal candidate will:

  • have at least five years of clinical experience in mental health and addictions
  • be a Registered Nurse with a valid APC
  • be a PDRP Expert
  • have a postgraduate diploma in specialty nursing practice
  • have the ability to work well in a team and foster good interpersonal relationships across services.
