Mō te tūranga - About the role
- Identify patients who meet the criteria to be classified as a major trauma
- Identify and collect data on all major trauma patients and put into the NZ National Trauma Registry
- Data collection and entry of major and non-major trauma patients
- Coding injuries using the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS)
- Identifying where trauma patients require extra coordination of care across multiple teams
- Communicating with Trauma Nurse Coordinators in other centres when trauma patients are transferred
- Coordinating resources and working to achieve best outcomes liaising with the pre hospital agencies involved in trauma care
- Providing expert advice and education to health care practitioners (internal and external) on the management of patients admitted as a result of trauma
- Assist in quality improvement projects for trauma patients

Utu whānui -Salary range
This role belongs to the NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($95,576 p.a.) and Step 3 ($106,016 p.a. pro-rata) of the Designated Senior Nurse Scale Grade 1.
