Mō te tūranga - About the role
Our talented team of clinical coders deliver accurate, thorough information for the health of our region.
You will be responsible for identifying and translating inpatient medical procedures, interventions and diagnoses into code using various systems such as ICD 10-AM 11th Edition (and any subsequent editions), the Australian Coding Standards (ACS) and the Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI).
If you do not hold a formal coding qualification, we will offer excellent 1:1 training and support to help you achieve this.
The role is a full-time opportunity working Monday to Friday and based at Southland Hospital - please note this is on site coding only, we do not have remote capabilities for this particular role.
Mōu ake - About you
The successful applicant will preferably have coded in ICD-10-AM 11th Edition, and ideally hold (or be studying towards) a HIMAA Clinical Coding qualification and will therefore have some understanding of the requirements of clinical coding within a health environment.

Salary will be based on qualifications and experience in line with PSA South Island Administrative MECA for Clinical Coders and will be inclusive of the PSA Clerical and Administrative Staff Pay Equity Interim Adjustment.
