Communities' Team, National Public Health Service – Southern

Invercargill

  • Utilise your strong connections with communities and settings, such as workplaces, and your in-depth knowledge of Hauora Māori to promote healthy environments
  • Previous experience in health promotion or community development would be ideal
  • Permanent role, 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week based in Invercargill

This job involves:

  • Building and maintaining effective and trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including workplaces to support the implementation of health promotion initiatives, including workplace wellbeing
  • Collaborating with community, other organisations and sectors, including workplaces, to promote health and wellbeing
  • Working as part of a team with colleagues in Te Whatu Ora

We are seeking someone highly motivated who will join our Communities' team working for the National Public Health Service in the Southern District.

Our team has an equity focus working in partnership with communities. We work in various settings, including workplaces, and with communities to promote health and wellbeing, reduce inequities and work alongside focus populations to support them in building on their strengths to address priorities, for example, alcohol harm reduction, food environments, and mental wellbeing.

Our work involves building connections and maintaining effective relationships; you'll work primarily with Southland communities, particularly building relationships in settings such as workplaces and community partners to support the implementation of health promotion initiatives.

Mōu ake | About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working bi-culturally
  • Experience in health promotion or community development
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Competent computer skills and high levels of organisational skills
  • A full clean driver's license.

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role belongs to the Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical Multi Employer Collective Agreement and falls between the step 1 ($59,035) and Ste p7 ($83,030) p.a prorata
