Psychology Interns at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, Southland

Three internships - each two six-month rotations, full-time.
- Internship one: Youth Specialty Service followed by EIPS/Forensic
- Internship two: EIPS/Forensic followed by Invercargill CAFS
- Internship three: North Community Mental Health team followed by Invercargill CAFS
Rotation one: 15 January - 28 June 2024. Rotation two: 1 July - 13 December 2024
Mō te tūranga - About the role
The primary purpose of the role is to:
- Under the guidance of their supervisor, to provide high quality clinical psychology service in the assessment and treatment of clients, ensuring clients' needs are met in a culturally, clinically and legally safe manner. The Intern Psychologist functions as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Clinical psychology is a discipline integrating science, theory, and clinical knowledge for the purpose of understanding, preventing and relieving psychologically-based distress or dysfunction and to promote subjective well-being and personal development. Psychologists assess and treat mental, emotional and behavioural disorders. They use the science of psychology to treat complex human problems and promote change. They develop an individual's resilience using strengths-based models.
Mōu ake - About you
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Psychology or equivalent*
- Currently registered as part of Doctoral or Masters' level vocational training in psychology
- Registration with NZ Psychologist Board, with Intern Psychologist Scope of Practice
- Current annual practising certificate
- Understanding of mental health in infants, children, adolescents, adults and their families
- Effective oral and written communication
- Working in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Can use Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel)
- Can keep detailed written file notes, complete client pathway documentation and provide formal assessment reports as required
*Please note these internships are only open to Otago Clinical Psychology students*

Utu whānui - Salary range
This role belongs to the PSA/DHBs Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement on step one ($60,319 p.a pro rata) and step five ($62,154 of the Allied, Public Health and Technical scale.
