About the role
Our Consultant Radiologist role is different from where you've just come from, and we bet you'll love it! This is a fulfilling role, rewarding team and great location to be based. We work as a strong MDT within our radiology service, and always have the welfare of our patients and their families at the core of our work. Due to our size and close collegial relationships throughout the hospital, it is quite normal to go and find the person to get the answer rather than send an email, and you will often find you get feedback regarding the progress of your patients after they have left your care, which certainly does not happen in a larger hospital!
About us
Our Radiology Service offer a full range of imaging modalities based on a digital RIS / PACS systems. We offer MRI, Interventional, CT and ultrasound, however, we do not offer mammography services. Our vacancy requires a Radiologist with a general scope of skills, including MRI and CT guided procedures; ultrasound experience is advantageous to us, but not an absolute necessity for you to be successful in gaining this role. As we are a flexible department, we are willing and able to make the most of your skills and are happy to support your special interest. As a team who prides ourselves in the work we do, and the care provided to our patients, quality is at the centre of our service and there is an expectation that you will participate in quality initiatives as part of your role. You will participate in an out of hours on call roster shared equally amongst your Radiologist colleagues.
About you
As an outstanding team player, you'll have the energy to make a positive difference with both patients and colleagues alike. In addition to enjoying a challenging and varied workload, you can look forward to a competitive pay rate and a culture where staff are included, valued and respected for their expertise. We are affiliated with the University of Otago Medical School and Southland Hospital provides training to Registrars from the Royal Australasian College of Radiologists, so you'll need to be someone who is enthusiastic about teaching and passing on your knowledge to junior members of staff.
You must be FRANZCR qualified (or equivalent) and hold, or be eligible for, vocational registration with Medical Council of NZ. If you are an international candidate you can be considered for this role under the condition, you are eligible for vocational registration with the MCNZ.
You will also need:
- competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
