About the Role
As the Advisor, Business Services, you will support the Regional PFO Director and wider PFO teams by providing timely, high-quality business support and advice. You will coordinate and produce Board, Committee, and Ministerial reports, manage Official Information Act requests, and contribute to strategic decision-making through research, analysis, and risk assessment. This is an opportunity to influence investment decisions, strengthen governance processes, and ensure that Health NZ's work programmes are delivered efficiently and effectively.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Planning, Funding & Outcomes (PFO) function is responsible for commissioning primary, community and mental health services across Taranaki, Waikato, Lakes, Bay of Plenty and Tairāwhiti. The office of the Regional PFO Director is the engine room for this work, providing critical support for internal business planning, reporting, ministerial servicing, and regional governance.
About you
As an Advisor, Business Services, you are a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You bring a strong combination of analytical, organisational, and communication skills, enabling you to turn complex information into clear, actionable advice. You are comfortable working across multiple priorities and with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, governance teams, and ministerial offices.
You will also bring a commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and cultural competency. You understand the importance of incorporating the perspectives of Māori and Pacific communities into planning and decision-making, supporting equitable and accessible health services for all New Zealanders.
Key attributes and experience include:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and proven experience in research, analysis, and advice preparation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
- Experience producing high-quality reports, Board/Committee papers, Ministerial briefings, and responding to Official Information Act requests.
- Ability to identify emerging issues, assess risks, and provide sound advice to senior leaders.
- Comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and remaining calm under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships across teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and personal professional development.
- Cultural awareness and the ability to work effectively with Māori and Pacific communities, ensuring their perspectives inform planning and delivery of health services.
