Quality and Assurance Coordinator - Planning, Funding and Outcomes at Te Whatu Ora, Te Manawa Taki

About the Role

As a Quality & Assurance Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting the quality improvement and assurance programmes across Health NZ Te Manawa Taki. You will coordinate audits, manage the complaints and compliments register, support corrective actions, and provide accurate reporting on quality and risk. Your work ensures services meet high standards and helps identify opportunities for improvement, directly influencing better health outcomes for communities across the region.

In this role, you will work closely with quality improvement advisors, providers, and colleagues across the organisation, synthesising complex information and helping to drive actionable improvements. You will contribute to provider risk assessments, support health and safety initiatives, and foster collaboration to ensure services are effective, equitable, and responsive to the needs of the communities.

About the Team/Service/ Location

You will join Health NZ's Planning, Funding & Outcomes (PFO) team, responsible for commissioning primary, community, and mental health services across Te Manawa Taki – spanning Taranaki, Waikato, Lakes, Bay of Plenty, and Tairawhiti

About you

You are a motivated and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a complex, fast-paced environment. You have an understanding of health systems, and you are confident in providing insights and recommendations that influence service improvement.

Key skills, experience, and technical capabilities include:

  • A relevant qualification
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of synthesising complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating audits, corrective action follow-ups, and complaints management systems.
  • Proficiency with database management, reporting tools, and quality assurance software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other reporting platforms).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and boundaries, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Commitment to reducing health inequities, promoting equitable access, and improving patient outcomes.
