As the Investigations Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an Investigations Team and ensuring the team have the skills and capabilities to carry out their roles to a high standard. Working with the Chief Inspector will ensure that national investigations resources are focussed strategically and utilised in a way that maximises improvements in New Zealand's workplace health and safety.

Supporting and managing a team will be critical to your success. You will need to lead by example always keeping the big picture in mind and be prepared to place the needs of the organisation at the centre of everything you do. You will be motivated by holding yourself and others to account and have the drive and energy to ensure you and your team can contribute fully to reducing serious harm and fatalities by 25% by 2020.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate:

  • An ability to lead a team of Investigations Inspectors ensuring services are delivered to a high standard in a nationally consistent way
  • Substantial experience leading, managing and/or assessing investigations
  • Management and leadership abilities with the drive and energy to build and maintain an engaged and high performing team
  • A honed ability to build credibility and trust with staff, management, the  business community, stakeholders and the general public
  • An in-depth knowledge of NZ's health and safety environment and/or health and safety legislation (or related area) and a commitment to your own continuous learning and that of your team
