WorkSafe New Zealand has a fixed term opportunity within its Legal Group (Auckland office) for a Senior Solicitor with experience in litigation.  This will be for a term of approximately 6 months, covering a period of parental leave.

WorkSafe is a Crown Entity responsible for administering and enforcing the Health and Safety at Work Act and other health and safety legislation.  The Legal Group is responsible for providing effective legal services and advice to WorkSafe NZ, including the Chief Executive and the Board. 

You will be responsible for providing high quality, timely, accurate and practical legal advice (formal and informal) in a dynamic context. A part of this role will require you to act as counsel for WorkSafe in respect of its litigation activities. In particular, this will involve appearances before the District Court nationwide, including prosecutions.

To be successful in this role you will bring with you litigation experience (ideally including criminal litigation) from within a similar complex environment, as well as experience operating in an in-house legal environment.
