Ko te tīma - About your team
The Certifications and Exemptions team carries out a variety of certification and authorisation functions in the area of hazardous substances to support compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
The team is primarily Wellington-based, sees plenty of variety and encounters challenging topics daily. We work closely with industry and other experts, as well as with key WorkSafe teams including legal and policy.
Ō te tūranga - About the role
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Advisor to join the Certifications and Exemptions team, which is part of our wider Authorisations and Advisory team. As a Senior Advisor you will be managing a variety of authorisation processes required under the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations. This includes, exemptions applications, compliance plans and equipment approvals and compliance certifier applications.
Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do:
- Process applications and provide recommendations that contribute to a strong and effective compliance certification regime.
- Support Advisors to ensure effective risk management and provide timely and accurate responses to external queries.
- Assist the team in responding to peaks in the workload

- Ability to effectively assess and manage short and long-term risks.
- Ability to maintain accurate information and to provide informative reports.
- Ability to effectively support, coach and grow the capability of other staff in the team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.

Awhe utu - Salary range
As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $99,959 to $131,904. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
