About your team / Ko te tīma
Our Business Intelligence team is responsible for providing targeted data insights reports to drive priority strategies and make informed decisions for WorkSafe.
About the role / Ō te tūranga
As a Business Analyst, you'll play a key role in supporting both business-as-usual operations and change initiatives within WorkSafe. You'll work closely with Operations teams and other groups to build trusted relationships and deliver detailed analysis that drives informed decision-making and successful outcomes. While you'll have an understanding of information and technical systems, your primary focus will be on business operations - particularly supporting the transition to our new operating model. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to strategic implementation and help shape the way we work.
This is a fixed-term or inter-agency secondment role until 30 June 2026.
What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi
- Deliver detailed analysis of business-as-usual and change activities to uncover opportunities and solve problems.
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements.
- Support solution design and facilitate gap analyses to improve processes.
- Create and optimise routine and ad-hoc reporting that informs decision-making.
- Build and maintain Operations' Power BI dashboard.
- Define and document business requirements for change initiatives.
- Help Operations be an effective partner when working with other WorkSafe groups and external parties.
- Develop high-quality business models and analysis to underpin strategic decisions.
- Provide specialist advice to resolve critical issues impacting business outcomes.
What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu
- Proven experience in analytical roles, working with complex information to deliver insights.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards.
- Ability to quickly understand and apply ideas, analysis, and advice from others.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, building relationships beyond your immediate team.
- Ability to gather, document, and translate business requirements into functional specifications.
- Skilled in facilitating workshops and capturing outcomes effectively.
- Expertise in Power BI and data visualisation (essential), with T-SQL knowledge a bonus.
- Understanding of health and safety legislation is desirable.
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is preferred.

Salary range / Awhe utu
As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $94,399 to $123,974, and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $94,399 to $104,257. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
