About your team / Ko te tīma

You'll join the Notifications team within Regulatory Services, a tight-knit group who are often the first point of contact for workers, businesses, whānau and communities reaching out to WorkSafe. It's a high‑trust, high‑impact environment where teamwork, support and good judgement matter every day.

About the role / Ō te tūranga

This 12‑month fixed term Notification Agent role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys being on the phone, can think on their feet, and stays calm under pressure. 

You'll take calls and enquiries about workplace health and safety, including serious incidents, assess the information provided, and decide what happens next. Every conversation counts, your judgement helps ensure risks are identified early and further harm is prevented.

This role is based at any WorkSafe office location, with flexibility depending on where you're located.

What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi

Be the first point of contact for phone, email, and written health and safety notifications 

  • Ask the right questions to quickly understand complex or sensitive situations 
  • Accurately record information in WorkSafe's case management system 
  • Use sound judgement to determine next steps, triage, referral, or no immediate action 
  • Provide clear, calm information and guidance to callers under pressure 
  • Work closely with colleagues to share insights and improve notification processes

What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu

  • Proven experience in a call centre or contact centre environment
  • Confidence handling high call volumes in a fast-paced setting 
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly 
  • The ability to stay calm, focused and empathetic in challenging conversations 
  • Excellent attention to detail and confidence working across multiple systems 
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn complex information fast

Salary range / Awhe utu

The expected starting base salary is $74,174 to $81,612. (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional). From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%. As part of our remuneration framework, the full salary range for this role is $74,174 -$96,491.
