About your team / Ko te tīma

Our Corporate group plays a vital role in keeping the organisation running smoothly day to day, enabling WorkSafe to meet its objectives and compliance obligations. We focus on delivering efficient, effective processes that support strong operational performance. We provide the tools, insights and advice that ensure the right capability is applied where it's needed most - supporting informed, robust decision-making and helping deliver on our strategic goals.

The Corporate group also ensures transparency by providing the public and key stakeholders with clear, accurate information on WorkSafe's financial and non-financial performance, and the outcomes we deliver for New Zealanders.

 

About the role / Ō te tūranga

This role is responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving systems and processes for collecting data and reporting on accountability.

The role also involves analysing and preparing insights on performance for the DCE Corporate and leaders within the Corporate team and across the organisation, and supporting the Government Services team in developing ministerial responses, reports, and accountability documents.

This role requires someone confident in working across departments to gather, collate, and present data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making. Strong communication skills are essential, not just for presenting data effectively, but for asking the right questions, building relationships with teams, and ensuring the insights provided are relevant and impactful.

Please note: Wellington location preferred, with flexibility to consider other locations where we have an office.

 

What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi

  • Maintain expert knowledge of WorkSafe Mahi Haumaru's planning cycles, accountability frameworks, KPIs, reporting systems, and government processes.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality, and efficient data collection and retrieval practices across the organisation.
  • Develop and implement repeatable processes for effective reporting and data capture.
  • Act as the central liaison for compiling information for accountability documents, OIA requests, and ministerial requirements.
  • Advise and support staff on government servicing processes, ensuring data quality, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, tools, and metrics to monitor and report on corporate performance in real time.

 

What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu

  • Strong understanding of Machinery of Government processes and reporting as well as People and Financial processes.
  • Experience in developing data collection and analysis processes to generate high-quality insights for informed decision-making, ideally using data visualisation tools like Power BI.
  • Experience in building and maintaining effective, easy to digest and transparent reporting routines that provide insights and trends to highlight key performance areas and identify and address issues and opportunities for improvements to inform decision making.
  • Adept at collaborating across diverse teams to deliver organization-wide outcomes.

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework, the expected appointment salary is $112,754-$124,480 (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional). From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%.
