Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Regional Director Practice Delivery is a key leadership position accountable for the operational management and leadership of a team of Practice Managers and Specialists - focused on the best practice delivery of a range of corrections services (custodial, community corrections, psychological services, health and case management).

The position is accountable for ensuring that managers and staff at the frontline receive appropriate support to make effective and appropriate professional judgements and decisions in the management of offenders and prisoners (particularly high-risk offenders), and use tools such as those available for assessing risk effectively.

This role is a key resource in leading the regional roll out of initiatives and training and ensuring that practice development and capability is developed and maintained in accordance with the organisations various Practice Frameworks. There is a high expectation of collaboration with other regions and National Office teams.

As a key member of the People, Practice and Capability Leadership Team reporting to the Director of People and Capability, the position has a significant responsibility and accountability to lead best practice service delivery that will be critical to achieving the Department's outcomes and reduce re-offending.

To be successful in the role you will have experience in the following:

  • Proven experience at a senior leadership level
  • Effective relationship management across diverse groups and teams
  • High level communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong business acumen and strategic and critical thinking to support operational capability
  • Ability to influence and drive key senior stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in driving change and innovation across a multi disciplinary group
