Clinical Nurse Educator - Central Region at Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections), Waikato

  • Exciting new position for the Central Region
  • Sites include Spring Hill Corrections Facility, Waikeria Prison, Tongariro Prison
  • Based in Hamilton Central Region Office
  • Full time, perm, Monday to Friday
  • Regular regional travel required and occasional travel out of region

Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused primary health care services to tangata within corrections facilities across Aotearoa.  Hōkai Rangi, our over-arching strategic direction, places the focus on health at the heart of our business.  Building our frameworks from a Matauranga Māori basis is our focus to drive and support equity for Māori, which in turn will contribute to achieving our outcomes of reducing reoffending.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Clinical Nurse Educator is an exciting new position, which is a key leadership role, promoting clinical excellence and evidenced based professional nursing practice.  The role provides education to all health care team members, Patient safety and quality improvement are important priorities to ensure an appropriate level of clinical care.

The Clinical Nurse Educator role will focus on all aspects of professional development across the department including Maori and Pacific forums for development, cultural and peer support.

This role offers great opportunity to influence and champion an environment that reflects excellence in continuous quality improvement and risk management processes.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

We are eager to hear from health professionals who can evidence meeting the following requirements within their cover letter and CV:

  • A Registered Nurse through the Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Experience in a clinical leadership role, coupled with experience of best practice clinical practice, terminology and procedures
  • Experience of working directly with staff as an expert teaching resource demonstrating adult and contemporary education techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including good attention to detail and concise writing skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and application to all work across the health and disability system.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Māori, whanau, hapu, iwi to maximise health and wellbeing
  • Commitment to working within a Kaupapa Māori health service that incorporates mātauranga Māori and Rongoā Māori practitioners.
  • A current driver's licence with the ability and willingness to travel across the Central region as required

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The mid-point of the salary range is $108,180 and the full range (85%-120%) is $91,953 - $129,816. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
