Regional Compliance, Environmental and Border Health Development and Delivery Lead - Te Manawa Taki - NPHS at Te Whatu Ora, Waikato

About the Role

We have a permanent opportunity available to join our Te Manawa Taki team as a Regional Compliance, Environmental and Border Health Development and Delivery Lead. The primary purpose of the role is to lead and drive the regional Health Protection Compliance, Environmental and Border Health programme of work to enable the realisation of Pae Ora. The role holds responsibility for delivering the programme of work through designing and establishing regional ways of working, including a networked approach between the regions and with national teams across NPHS and Health New Zealand. This role also has a requirement for regular travel across the region.

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

You will be proactive, strategic, and capable of leading with confidence and clarity. You are experienced in developing and implementing effective health programmes and have strong project management expertise. You are someone able to respectfully lead teams through change. You also bring with you, an ability to work collaboratively with others and to maximise the contributions of individuals and teams to achieve results.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Minimum 5 years programme, or project development experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing innovative ways of working and leading through others to achieving this.
  • Experience in leading change and/or service and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Previous experience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and knowledge of the machinery of government, and policy development, is preferable.
  • Clean full NZ Driver Licence.
  • Willingness to travel across the region.
