Registered Nurse - Specialist Interest Diabetes at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Wairarapa, Wairarapa

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our diabetes clinical nurse specialist team.

We have a 0.6 FTE vacancy within the team.  Our preference is for an experienced registered nurse with a specialist Interest in Diabetes, working alongside the Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist. 

This is a Monday to Friday role with hours to be mutually agreed.

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

The diabetes nursing team works primarily within the Wairarapa community and general practice to provide assessment, support, assistance with treatment and follow-up of people with diabetes requiring complex care. The nurses also work closely with the inpatient MDT and consult with lead clinicians in both adult and paediatric care. 

Moū - About you

You will have a strong community focus working with patients and healthcare professionals, including caregivers, in the community, hospital and aged care facilities, with the support and guidance of the Diabetes CNS provide education and advice to health professionals based in a range of settings; ARC facilities, hospital, community.

Achieve Proficient status within the Professional Development and Recognition Programme and work towards post graduate qualifications.

Model good practice within the clinical setting based upon the National Diabetes Nurses Knowledge and Skills Framework 2018.

Participate in case review and debriefing activities with Diabetes CNS, CSN and Physicians.

Attain further knowledge and skills to work with Diabetes CNS's from other hospitals, to help you successfully grow and develop to support further transition to a Diabetes CSN role with potential for CNS development.
