Registered Nurse - Oncology at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Wairarapa, Wairarapa

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Whatu Ora Wairarapa is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Community Oncology Nursing Team.  This role will be based across our Masterton and South Wairarapa (Greytown) bases with the majority of the work being in South Wairarapa.

The primary focus of this role is to provide support to patients, their family and whānau throughout the cancer journey. This will involve assessment, education, follow-up and complex case management of patients with an oncological diagnosis.  In this role you will staff the consultant-led oncology outpatient clinics, and you will receive training and support to be involved in the administration of chemotherapy in the Day Procedure Unit.

Key relationships exist with a variety of health professionals so effective communication and education skills are important in this role.  The Community Oncology Nurse role involves liaison and regular communication with consultants from both Mid-Central and Capital & Coast hospitals.  The Oncology Team also plays a key role in following up investigations and liaising with patients' general practitioners and has responsibility for managing port-a-caths and PICC lines and administering chemotherapy in the hospital's Day Procedure Unit.

This is a permanent part-time position working 48 hours per fortnight, with those hours being worked between 8am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.  Actual days and hours worked to be mutually agreed with the successful candidate.

Moū - About you

Previous experience in the field of Oncology nursing is desired for this position.  A current Practicing Certificate and clean driver's license are essential, as well as good computer skills.
