Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused health care services to tangata within corrections facilities across Aotearoa. Hōkai Rangi, our over-arching strategic direction, places the focus on health at the heart of our business. Building our frameworks from a Matauranga Māori basis is our focus to drive and support equity for Māori, which in turn will contribute to achieving our outcomes of reducing reoffending.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
This is an exciting new opportunity to join our Intervention and Support Practice Team to help shape the future of Mental Health services across Ara Poutama Aotearoa. The Clinical Manager Mental Health is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient mental health service delivery that facilitates clinical excellence, improved wellbeing, and good health outcomes for the people in our care and management. The Clinical Manager will lead the day-to-day practice of our team, contribute to and support the implementation of a whānau centric model of care which tackles inequity for Māori, and which aligns to Hōkai Rangi, and supports best clinical practice.
In addition to providing expert knowledge and clinical leadership, relationship development and network building, will be critical to your success. You'll take a proactive and collaborative approach to working with key stakeholders, including our Prison Directors, Health Centre Managers, Custodial staff, Forensics and various NGO providers, to continuously enhance the development of best clinical practice within our prison environment.

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates who can demonstrate strong alignment to our kaupapa and our organisation values, as well as highlighting how you feel you meet the following lead requirements:
- A registered health professional under the HPC or Social Work Act with a post-graduate qualification in Mental Health;
- Advanced people and clinical leadership experience within a mental health setting, including accountability for service development, priority setting, process management and decision-making;
- A strong understanding of Te Ao Māori coupled with demonstrable knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi within a practice environment;
- Demonstrable ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, both internal and external;
- Proven experience working effectively in a cross-cultural context; and
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The salary range for this role is from $110,091 up to $155,423 based on relevant skills & experience.
