As the New Zealand Corrections Government Training Establishment (NZCGTE) moves into an exciting transformative and innovative growth phase, we are now looking for an energetic, resilient, and engaging professional to support frontline staff capability through the development and design of purposeful workplace qualifications.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
As the Adviser Qualification Design, your focus will be on developing workplace qualifications and assessment materials to enhance workforce capabilities and maximise qualification achievement.
Your key responsibilities will include removing barriers to assessment, ensuring qualifications and assessment material are current and aligned to Ara Poutama's vision, and co-designing qualifications with subject matter experts and relevant stakeholders to ensure holistic assessments that are tailor made for the assessment environment.
You will also work closely with the Moderation team, Workforce Development Councils and NZQA for accreditation, and engage proactively to strengthen practices and capabilities through tailored qualifications.
Working within the Design and Evaluation team, this role collaborates closely with National Managers who design and deliver capability pathways, including staff qualifications.

You will have a tertiary qualification or diploma in adult learning, business, or other relevant subject or relevant experience in a similar role. You will also have completed the following Unit Standards, or have a willingness to gain these:
- 4098 Use Standards to Assess Candidate Performance
- 11551 Moderate Assessment
- 11552 Design and Evaluate Assessment Material

- Proven experience in designing qualifications and assessment material for workplace assessments.
- Proven proactive and effective management of internal and external relationships, using influence and persuading techniques to build confidence and trust.
- Proven ability to critically analyse and interpret complex information and make effective well-reasoned decisions.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with business units, managers, and staff to broaden their understanding of enhancing organisational development.
- A highly proactive nature with the ability to effectively self-manage and work autonomously.
This role will include travel on occasion, a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence is required.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid-point of the salary range is $84,594 and the full range (85%-120%) is $71,905 - $101,513. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
