(Senior) Research, Data and Intelligence Analyst at NZ Commerce Commission, Wellington or Auckland

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

We are looking for a (Senior) Research, Data and Intelligence Analyst to join our Intelligence team. This is a permanent, full time role based in our either Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

As a key member of the Intelligence team, you will play a vital role in analysing data and gathering information from a range of sources to produce strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence products. These outputs will support the organisation in making informed prioritisation decisions and contribute to the success of ongoing projects.

In your role as (Senior) Research, Data and Intelligence Analyst, you will work closely with the Intelligence Manager and team members to deliver the research and intelligence work programme, guided by the evolving intelligence strategy. Additionally, you will support the branch management team in identifying and prioritising engagement and advocacy initiatives.

The indicative salary range for the Analyst role is $91,432 - $107,567 and Senior Analyst is $114,327 - $134,502 plus 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.

He kōrero mōu | About you

You will bring experience in both data-led and human-led research and intelligence analysis, along with a strong understanding of research methodologies and data analysis tools. Your ability to interpret market trends, shifting business models, and evolving consumer behaviours will enable you to identify emerging issues of concern for the Commission and tell compelling, insight-driven stories.

Collaboration is key in this role. You'll enjoy working closely with your team and colleagues across the organisation to uncover areas where harm to New Zealand consumers and markets is most significant. You'll be proactive, solutions-focused, and able to think critically, write clearly, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

An inquisitive mindset and strong analytical thinking are essential, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation is encouraged. You may be asked to assist in developing data analysis tools, so a working knowledge of coding would be a valuable asset.

As our organisation flexes and adapts to meet changing priorities and commitments, we are looking for people who are also comfortable with change, able to adapt, and can contribute positively to a one Commission view. Your ability to show your learning agility, open mindedness and curiosity will set you apart from the rest.
