Education New Zealand - Manapou ki te Ao (ENZ), is a Crown Agency responsible for international education. Our mission is to deliver enduring social, cultural, and economic benefits to Aotearoa, by taking New Zealand education experiences to the world.

Te āhua o te tūranga - The nature of the position

This permanent full-time role will be accountable for developing and embedding Rautaki Māori within ENZ and ensuring Te Tiriti obligations are met. This includes monitoring and reviewing ENZ's cultural competence, progress, outcomes and reporting requirements.

Ngā tino pūkenga/wheako - Essential skills/experiences for the role

  • Understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Te Tiriti)
  • Understanding of Te reo me ōna tikanga Māori (fluency in Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga desirable)
  • Experience working in a Māori environment and understanding of kaupapa Māori
  • Experience managing projects
  • Good facilitation skills with the ability to deal effectively with conflict and debate credibly with key stakeholders
  • Experience as an effective negotiator and influencer
  • Well-developed advisory skills supported by excellent communication skills (oral and written)
