Te āhua o Te Tūrunga - The nature of the position
As Director Marketing and Brand, you will lead the global brand and marketing strategy that brings New Zealand's international education story to life – ensuring it is visible, competitive and compelling across priority markets worldwide.
This role is ideal for a progressive brand and marketing leader with deep global experience and a broad, modern skill set. You will work confidently across brand strategy, integrated campaigns, digital, marketing technology, audience engagement, and data and insights. Your focus will be on shaping end‑to‑end marketing impact rather than operating as a narrow specialist. This is a rare opportunity to influence how New Zealand shows up on the global stage.
As an inspiring leader, you will build, motivate and sustain a high‑performing brand and marketing team, fostering collaboration, empowerment and continuous learning. You will work closely with internal leaders, international markets, agencies, sector partners and the wider NZ Inc network to deliver coordinated, high‑impact marketing that amplifies New Zealand's presence globally.

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako - Essential skills/experiences for the role
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 10+ years' experience in global marketing and brand roles
- Extensive experience developing and delivering brand strategy and integrated campaigns across multiple international markets
- Demonstrated ability to lead brand and creative development to a best‑practice standard, ensuring content and campaigns meet the needs of diverse audiences.
- Senior public and / or private sector experience
- Experience working in an international marketing team preferred
- Experience leading and developing high performing teams
- An understanding of why Te Tiriti is important to Aotearoa New Zealand and its connection to daily work.
The remuneration band for this role is $160 – $190K.
