About the Role
We have the opportunity available to join the National Public Health Service (NPHS) Intelligence Directorate as a Senior Analyst in the Improvement and Performance team. This is a permanent, full-time role.
The Improvement and Performance team aims to:
- Strategically enable and enhance the quality and efficiency of intelligence processes and products (Improvement)
- Establish efficient processes and products that regularly deliver meaningful NPHS performance reporting that supports senior and executive leadership groups in improving our performance (Performance)
This role provides strong technical or professional subject matter expertise, data analysis activities and interpretation in relevant areas and contributes to engagement with stakeholders to assist in making informed evidence-based recommendations and decisions.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. About you
You are someone with an understanding of and ability to select, adapt and use a growing range of frameworks, principles, tools and methods and apply them appropriately to given issues. You're able to apply critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.
- A relevant graduate or post-graduate qualification in public health, psychology, information technology, statistics, data management, data analytics or data science or similar, or equivalent work experience
- At least five years of experience using qualitative or quantitative research/evaluation techniques, practices and principles.
- Experience in using relevant analytical tools such as SQL, R or Python, R-Shiny, PowerBI, Qlik
- Ability to work strategically, uncover true stakeholder needs to develop appropriate solutions, including new products
- Ability to source and summarise relevant data in a systematic way in order to interpret and explain implications
- Excellent ability to read, write and communicate data in context
- Advanced technical writing, oral and presentation skills to communicate clearly and concisely in a range of formats, to suit a range of audiences (technical and non-technical)
