About the Role

We have the opportunity available to join the National Public Health Service (NPHS) Intelligence Directorate as a Strategy & Quality Lead. This is a permanent, full-time role.

The Strategy & Quality Lead has a key role in defining and aligning priority strategies across multiple functional areas to improve delivery of high quality Intelligence products and services. This role supports mahi at both the strategic and operational levels to raise the quality and customer experience of Intelligence services and products, using learnings from internal and external stakeholders, and industry.

As a Lead in Intelligence, you are expected to be a present, visible leader, committed to foster an in-person (where feasible) environment and culture. You will be in your element envisioning & communicating strategic value, but will also be able to switch hats to support teams to iteratively realise this value.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

The Intelligence directorate is a population and public health operational Intelligence team that is national and regionally networked and collaborative across organisations and agencies. In our work, we provide advice and deliver products that are used to inform evidence-based decision-making across the NPHS. Our data and products need to be informative and interpretable; they also need to reflect the voices and stories of our communities.  

About you

You are someone with experience in understanding opportunities from technology and thinking ambitiously and courageously around potential to improve and advance intelligence and digital products strategically and sustainably. You have proven experience collaborating in a complex environment with diverse stakeholders and in planning and executing a strategic plan across disparate agile teams. You are someone who can build a high level understanding of how data flows through systems, and ultimately how to support analytics team to build & support meaningful data products. You also understand the importance of simpler evidence-based quality interventions, such as training, checklists, audit etcetera, and are enthusiastic and passionate about supporting teams to do their best work.

  • A relevant graduate qualification.
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
  • Highly desirable to have experience in the Health sector, with particular expertise in health analytics, insights and the science of public health.
