About the Role
We have a Senior Advisor opportunity available to join the National Public Health Service (NPHS) Business Services Directorate, within the Briefings and Advisory team. This is a permanent full time role.
In this role you will support the development of high quality advice to Ministers, working across the National Public Health Service, Health New Zealand and other agencies including the Ministry of Health/Public Health Agency to collate and analyse content. You will be expected to write high quality briefings and advice for Ministers, under time constraints.

About you
As a Senior Advisor, you are confident working in a fast-paced environment and getting ‘stuck in' with a range of work. You will have strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to work with a range of teams and stakeholders to provide concise advice to Ministers. You have proven experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.
- Graduate qualification in health or policy
- Experience with machinery of government and knowledge of government structures and processes
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
- Experience writing high quality briefings, aide memoires, Cabinet papers and advice for Ministers, under time constraints
- Experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice, particularly in leading complex or contentious work
- Excellent analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate information
