Registered Nurse, Immunisation - Hutt Valley - NPHS at Te Whatu Ora, Wellington

About the Role

We have a permanent part-time opportunity within our Hutt Valley-based Immunisation team for a Registered Nurse, Immunisation, to provide Opportunistic Immunisation across the Hutt Valley

You will provide comprehensive immunisation services within the community.  You will support the delivery of Immunisation Programmes and large Immunisation campaigns with the aim of decreasing vaccine-preventable diseases in the Hutt Valley through improved immunisation coverage.  You will feel comfortable delivering vaccination services both in-home settings and other community/hospital settings.  As this is a new role, you will be flexible and open to adjusting your hours to meet the needs of the role.

This is a pivotal role that promotes and supports the New Zealand National Immunisation Schedule and other additional vaccination programmes introduced by the MoH.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Immunisation team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora and works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored. 

About you

As a successful candidate, you will show and understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and be skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role. You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and model an agile approach –try new approaches, learn quickly, adapt fast. You can utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to the top of your scope.

  • A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for underserved whānau and communities.
  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse.
  • Holds a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • Current Full Driver's Licence
  • Experienced Whole of Life Vaccinator
  • In-depth knowledge of the current NZ immunisation schedule
  • Evidence of relevant professional development
  • Expertise in the area of vaccine-preventable diseases
  • Ability to provide consultancy to the client and individual groups.
