About the Role
As a Senior Contract Analyst within the Hospital Purchasing team, you will play a key role in supporting data-driven investment and purchasing decisions across public and private hospital services. You will provide high-quality analytical advice, insights, and reporting to help inform national priorities, strategic planning, and funding decisions.
Working across the External Agency Contracts and Purchasing teams, you will analyse complex clinical, financial, economic, and operational data to support investment pipeline planning and funding optimisation. You will also contribute to improving data quality, reporting frameworks, monitoring processes, and analytical tools to strengthen decision-making capability across the organisation.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Hospital Purchasing team works closely with finance, clinical, analytical, and regional stakeholders to support effective investment and purchasing decisions across Health NZ. The team is focused on delivering evidence-based insights that support equitable, sustainable, and high-quality healthcare outcomes for New Zealanders.

About you
You will bring a strong mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and relationship management skills. You will be confident working with complex information, translating data into meaningful insights, and providing clear recommendations to support decision-making at a national level.
You will thrive in a collaborative environment, demonstrate initiative, and be comfortable managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, economics, analytics, health, business, data science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an analytical, reporting, finance, or data-focused role
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability with experience interpreting complex financial, clinical, operational, and economic data
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL, Tableau, or similar platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to a range of audiences
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to improving equitable health outcomes for Māori and Pacific communities
