About the Role
As the Improvement Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement, performance excellence, and innovation across the National Public Health Service (NPHS). Working at the intersection of business needs, intelligence, data, and technology, you will lead the design and delivery of strategic solutions that enhance intelligence products, services, and customer experience. You will partner with a wide range of stakeholders to translate complex challenges into practical outcomes, lead improvement initiatives (including development of a shared data platform as a service) and programmes of work, and help shape the future direction of intelligence capability while contributing to equitable health outcomes for all New Zealanders. You will provide direction and strategic insight for cross functional delivery teams so technology solutions developed and delivered enable analysts & business users to improve health outcomes.

About you
You are an experienced improvement and delivery professional who has led and managed significant programmes of work in complex environments, with senior stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds. Combining strategic thinking with a continuous improvement mindset, you can translate business needs into effective intelligence, data, and technology solutions that enhance performance, quality, and customer experience. You are motivated by improving outcomes for communities and are committed to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and collaborative ways of working.
- Proven experience leading, developing and delivering complex improvement programmes, projects, or transformation initiatives in large organisations
- Strong ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes
- Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement, and successfully implementing sustainable solutions
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities
- Understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Pae Ora, health equity, and working in partnership with Māori and Pacific communities.
