Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are building our ability to work with big data in the cloud. Our environment has been established, we have built some pipelines and we are looking for a data engineer to help us take it to the next level.
We have access to data to help solve many of healthcare's problems from access to equity from diagnosis to treatment. This role has quite a wide scope so you won't bored.
If you like automating data pipelines, figuring out how to get the most out of data and working with subject matter experts then this might be for you.
Mōu | About you
We are looking for someone that has advanced working knowledge or experience building and optimizing ‘big data' data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience:
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific technical / business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including MSSQL, Postgres and DynamoDB.
- Experience working with AWS services including S3, Lambdas and Data bricks.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific technical / business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Experience working with AWS services including S3, Lambdas and Databricks.
- Hands on familiarity with the language of data – either R, SQL, python or even Scala.
Previous government experience, Health sector or community experience would be beneficial for success in this role.

- An understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
