Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
The financial Controller is a direct report to the GM Finance and will contribute to embedding financial decision making for Te Aka Whai Ora.

Here is a great opportunity for a qualified accountant to step into a new and dynamic financial leadership role with Te Aka Whai Ora. The role offers exposure to the wider business operations and their performance with the opportunity to develop under an experienced CFO.
This is a highly visible role with a diverse range of interactions across the organisation.
Moū – About you
- Responsible for all accounting and financial matters for the business
- Provide financial insights in the business performance, identifying opportunities for growth and/or improvement
- High level financial reporting and analysis, ensuring results comply with required accounting principles and standards
- Maintenance of all internal controls and processes to mitigate risk. Take ownership of continually improving these controls to reduce risk.
- Develop and improvement processes and efficiencies across the business.
- Involvement in IT management, solutions and implementation, efficiencies across the business
- Manage and develop the administration team
- Work closely with other managers across the business
- Support the development of business strategies
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
Ideally you will:
- Be CA qualified
- Extensive management accountant experience
- Sound analytical skills with the ability to identify and address key issues and risks
- Possess sound commercial acumen and be results/deadline focused
- A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
- Possess excellent communication skills and understand the value of engaging people

Te Aka Whai Ora – Māori Health Authority is a newly established independent statutory entity responsible for enabling greater Māori participation in the design and delivery of health services for the betterment of all. This will be achieved by embedding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as central components of Aotearoa New Zealand's health reform.
Te Aka Whai Ora will play an essential role in enhancing Māori rangatiratanga, ensuring everyone has the equitable access to healthcare and supporting whānau to take control of their own health and wellbeing. Te Aka Whai Ora will work in partnership with Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health and Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand and enable Iwi-Māori Partnerships Boards (IMPBs), Māori health providers, iwi, hapū and Māori communities to achieve Māori health aspirations.
