Senior Customer Regulatory Specialist at Land Information New Zealand, Wellington

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

This is a great opportunity to be at the heart of managing risks to New Zealand's most sensitive assets. The core function of this role will be leading assessments on the impact to New Zealand's national interest from specific overseas investment transactions. Senior Advisors in the Applications Team use strong critical analysis and sound judgement to determine applications against the tests of the Overseas Investment Act 2005. Senior Advisors are also responsible for assessing and providing advice on overseas investment risk, this can include national interest, national security, and/or public order risk. Doing this requires engagement with a range of other NZ government agencies and an understanding of the broader strategic and commercial environment.

Senior Advisors are required to clearly present their analysis and recommendations to decision-makers (including Ministers), applicants, and the wider public. Senior Advisors are also expected to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to overall improvements of our system and regulatory regime.

No two applications are the same and this role provides the opportunity to demonstrate the application of strong legal, regulatory, critical thinking, and/or risk analysis skills.
