Business Analyst - People Process & Automation Analyst at Land Information New Zealand, Wellington

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

As our People Process & Automation Analyst, you'll partner with the People team to capture, simplify and improve end-to-end HR processes, then translate them into secure, maintainable Power Automate workflows. Your work will reduce manual administration, improve customer experience, and support consistent, compliant delivery of People services across Toitū Te Whenua.  In this role you will: 

  • Map, analyse and improve end-to-end People/HR processes (e.g., offboarding, employee lifecycle changes, leader approvals), turning pain points into streamlined, standardised workflows.
  • Design, build and maintain Power Automate solutions to reduce manual effort and automate approvals, notifications, document generation, and HR-driven service requests.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider People team to ensure solutions are aligned, practical and deliver measurable value.
  • Enable data-driven automation using HRIS employee information, ensuring the right data is used at the right time, with appropriate security, privacy and access controls.
  • Provide operational support and continuous improvement, including monitoring flow performance, troubleshooting issues, documenting solutions, and tracking benefits (e.g. time saved, reduced errors, faster turnaround).

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Hands-on experience creating, improving and supporting Power Automate workflows
  • Experience in process mapping and identifying opportunities for simplification and automation
  • Experience supporting HR or other compliance-based systems and tools
  • Tenacity and enjoyment of researching and solving complex problems
  • A focus on delivery and a willingness to take accountability and ownership of work, while adapting to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to both influence and collaborate effectively with diverse teams
  • Business analysis experience, with a strength in user requirement gathering

The expected appointing range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000, dependent on experience.
