Kaitātari Mātāmua / Principal Policy Analyst at Ministry for the Environment, Wellington
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
Mō mātou | About the Secretariat, Integration and System Strategy Team (SISS)
The environmental management system includes the laws and institutions that influence our relationship with the environment. It covers everything from our natural resources to the way we build our towns and cities. In the broadest sense, the system includes anyone making decisions which affect the environment.
At the heart of the system is the Resource Management Act (RMA). Since the RMA was introduced in 1991 the economy has grown significantly and the way we use our land and other resources has changed. In July 2019 the Government announced a comprehensive review of the RMA. Delivering the Government reform programme is a major focus for the Ministry.
Part of the Resource Management Reform Group, the SISS team plays a key role in delivering the major reform work currently underway. SISS helps integrate policy across the entire reform programme and provides a secretariat and quality administrative function to help ensure quality policy advice.
